The expression "chinese stungun" is synonymous with the expression "cheap stungun", although in the catalogs of online stores you can find similar devices for 10-15 thousand rubles. This is comparable to the cost of real Class 1 electroshock devices, while the quality and effectiveness of chinese stunguns are much lower than of those made in Russia.

EXPENSIVE = HIGH QUALITY? IS IT WORTH BUYING STUNGUN SCEPTER X V.2?

The main disadvantages of Chinese stunguns:

The price of this stungun varies from 12 to 14 thousand rubles, which is in the same price category as certified 1st class stunguns made in Russia. The question arises whether these devices are comparable and whether such serious spending on a self-defense weapon is justified?

Overview of technical characteristics of stungun Scepter

The following technical characteristics were provided on one of the popular online-stores:

• 1st class (stunner) + high frequency;
• Discharge voltage - 20 million. Volts;
• Battery capacity - 2 x 4200 mAh;
• Thickness of penetrated clothing - 70 (mm);
• Duration of the shock state - 90 (min);
• Built-in 320 Lm lamp (500 meters);
• Overall dimensions: 340x35x35 (mm);
• Standard set: stungun, charger, battery 18650 3.7V (2 pcs.).

Let's analyze the device parameters and discuss how they correspond to reality:

1) 1st class (stunner) – in accordance with GOST R 50940-96 electroshock devices, Class 1 includes devices with an average power of 2 to 3 watts and a discharge voltage of 70 to 90 kV. These parameters must be confirmed by a certificate of conformity. Due to the absence of the certification, no class can be assigned to stun gun Scepter.

2) Discharge voltage - 20 million. Volts. Similarly to the previous paragraph, without measurements, any parameters are unconfirmed (invented). In the case of repeatedly inflated parameters (the claimed 20,000,000 Volts versus the permitted 90,000 Volts) it is clear that such a value is simply unattainable.

3) The battery capacity is 2 x 4200 mAh, 3.7V.This stungun uses lithium-ion batteries. The screenshot shows exactly the batteries on which the Scepter works. Is it possible to expect that a battery-powered shocker for 300 rubles will stop an animal or an aggressive person?

4) The thickness of the breakdown of clothing - 70 mm depends on the distance between the control electrodes. The discharge will pass through the object if the distance to it is less than 1/2 of the distance between the control electrodes. Otherwise, the discharge will pass between the control electrodes. In order for the discharge to penetrate clothing 70 mm thick, the distance between the control electrodes should be 14 cm. This is not a parameter that can be explained by huge power, it depends only on physical parameters. In fact, there is about 1 cm between the electrodes of  Scepter, which means that its discharge can penetrate 5 mm of clothing.

5) Time out of shock - 90 min. Non-lethal weapons cannot provide such an effect, since it would pose a danger to the life and health of the target. Chinese stunguns cannot achieve such an effect due to their low efficiency.

6) Has a built-in 320 Lm (500 meters) flashlight. Logic says that no pocket flashlight can illuminate an object at a distance of half a kilometer, and the brightness of 320 lumens corresponds to the brightness of an incandescent lamp of 40 watts.

Perhaps it is worth asking yourself: if all the information about the device is unreliable and overstated by tens or hundreds of times, is it true that the words about the high efficiency, quality, power of the device?

Conclusions

In general, buying Chinese stunguns may turn out to be an unsafe practice and a waste of money. The discharge of a weak stungun may be enough to scare off a dog or stop an accidental conflict, but in a more dangerous situation it will be ineffective.
